As part of the open market data initiative, Bloomberg has now made their Market Data Library open i.e. under MIT License (Type WAPI on bloomberg terminal). This will help to standardize market data access interface across banks, where almost every bank/team has their own interface definition. I have used their .net library version (when it was in beta release in 2007), and found the API interface and documentation very well done.
